Now that holidays are behind us and the cold of Winter has us daydreaming of fairer weather, it's time to start planning for WAR! Take some in the next month or two to mend your armor and repad your weapons, because this March, the Crew of the the Lost Cause returns with our Second Annual Cold War. You've got nothing better to do, so why not grab a few extra layers of garb, your favorite bed warmer (or two), and help kick off the Frat season with our friendly, fabulous, and completely trustworthy crew? You can expect a full Saturday afternoon of fratricidal combat, followed by a hot meal and hopefully some bardic entertainment that evening. Once again, we'll fill up a few chests of goodies and send you cluelessly wandering into the woods, to no doubt be devoured alive by the legendary Mancougardeer. All this, plus fire and your Markland friends - hope to see you there!

The brand new Carolingian Frankish camp (Scara Karoli) will be making its debut at the annual Military Through the Ages on March 20-21, 2010.

Our scenario will be Charlemagne's Saxon wars. Beginning in the 770s, Charlemagne repeatedly tried to subdue the Saxons along the eastern borders of his empire finally succeeding in the year 804.

Our camp will demonstrate martial techniques, cooking, and other daily activities of the period.

Garb standards are fairly simple. Frankish attire had a lot of similarities with Viking and Anglo-Saxon fashions. The Markland basic clothing guide is suitable for this camp. I am currently working on a more detailed set of camp standards which will be available soon.

MTA is one of the premier living history events in the country and features over 30 groups from the middle ages to modern day. It is also a competitive event, where groups (if they choose to be) are judged on their tactical demonstrations, clothing, cooking, and overall camp quality.

Those interested in participating in MTA with Scara Karoli may contact myself, Lothar, at eyerunmayden@hotmail.com

Admission is free for participants and each participant is allowed one free guest pass.

MTA is at Jamestown Settlement, Jamestown, VA on March 20-21, 2010.
